From Linda

I didn't know Jack well or at all, really - in fact I think we actually only had one conversation - at my first all-staff meeting that was held in Visalia - I always wear a hat and he had something clever to say about my hat. It was a bonus for me that he introduced himself to me. I watched him 'work the room' that day and felt his 'specialness.' I am sure he will be missed because I miss his presence...

  1. I started writing about all the ways to describe Jack and my experiences with him and it ended up sounding more like a thesaurus. Jack was a cool dude. He brought a fantastic blend of humor, knowledge, wisdom, passion, and patience -- whether with colleagues, enemies, clients, politicians, it didn't matter. He had the ability to use his little (and not so little) zingers with deadly accuracy and make the point that really needed making. With Jack, it wasn't just "pushing the envelope" it was about throwing it away and refusing to buy in to the established order that was causing the problem in the first place.

There was never a dull moment with Jack around and I know I'm a better person for it.
